MULTIPLE NET MID-WATER (TUCKER) TRAWL:

• Designed for deep oblique tows where up to three replicate nets can be sequentially operated by a double release mechanism
• 1.0 m x 1.4 m galvanized and stainless steel construction
• lower pipe is treaded and capped at both ends where lead ballast bars (approx 60 kg., not included) can be inserted
• three plankton nets 1.0 m x 1.4 m x 4.0 m x 333 micron with heavy reinforced net cowling positions nets at 45 degree angle during fishing which results in an effective fishing area of 1.0 square meter)

Unit Includes:

• galvanized and stainless steel opening and closing frame

• cast bronze and stainless steel double release mechanism with two 1.0 kg messengers

General Procedure:

• nets # 2 & 3 are secured in the closed position to upper frame member by lanyards that snap into the double release mechanism
• weighted messenger # 1 actuates the opening of plankton net # 2 and closure of plankton net # 1
• weighted messenger # 2 actuates the opening of plankton net # 3 and closure of plankton net # 2

Notes:

Net #1 open upon deployment: Net #3 open upon recovery.

Very reliable and cost effective sampling as compared to “Mock-Ness” and Bongo net systems. No obstruction of the sampling area during deployment. Plankton nets are available in a variety of Nitex nylon mesh sizes (< 1000 microns) and knotless nylon meshes (< 10 cm)
